Overview


Increasingly, success means that entrepreneurs and business professionals alike need to manage their careers entrepreneurially. The Know Limit Learning Service PROPEL Young Entrepreneur and Business Program for high school students and recent high school graduates provides you the opportunity to learn what it takes to get your business off the ground, to actually launch your business, and to manage your career entrepreneurially.

At PROPEL you will be coached by business professionals and work alongside like-minded peers to discover what it takes to succeed in business. Skill development includes assessing the approachable market, being client centric, recruiting and leading a team to sell and deliver products or services, establishing your ethical guiding light, financial management, and building a scalable infrastructure to achieve execution excellence.

Program Includes Three Months of Business Coaching and a Chance to Win $1,000 to Fund Your Business


Through a series of case studies, simulations and real-world challenges, you will learn how to thrive in the sink-or-swim world of business. In addition, you will receive expert support and feedback from your business coach during the program and for three months after the program to ensure that your learning translates into a lifelong competitive advantage. Compete to win $1,000 to fund your business venture by preparing and pitching your idea to a panel of venture capitalist.

Through the PROPEL Young Entrepreneur and Business Program you will learn what it takes to launch your business and manage your career entrepreneurially plus get started with three months of business coaching.

Your PROPEL Program


Whether you want to start your own company or join a Fortune 500 organization, deciding and committing early will give you a competitive advantage. The Know Limit Learning Service PROPEL Young Entrepreneur and Business Program for high school students and recent high school graduates challenges you to think, to see possibilities that others may not see, and to manage your business career entrepreneurially. Learners who participle in the PROPEL program will:

  • Gain a perspective about managing your career entrepreneurially for the demands of the future
  • Gain hands on experience doing the career you want and working with proven business professionals
  • Learn what it takes to get your business and career off the ground
  • Launch your business or career through three months of coaching that extends beyond the program to ensure that your learning translates into a lifelong competitive advantage
  • Compete to win $1,000 to fund your business venture by preparing and pitching your idea to a panel of venture capitalists
  • Develop cross functional business skills in assessing approachable markets, being client centric, recruiting and leading a team to sell and deliver products or services, establishing your ethical guiding light, managing financials, and building a scalable infrastructure to achieve execution excellence
  • Participate in a simulation that promotes teamwork and delegation while exploring the boundaries of business ethics
  • Take part in a series of “Apprentice”-style real-world challenges that require quick thinking and solution-oriented teamwork to achieve the objective at hand
  • Create questions for a panel of current MBA students and admission professionals to learn about the requirements and application process for business school and how to procure internships
  • Listen to advice and insights from acclaimed speakers who will share their experience in the world of business
  • Formulate a real-world business plan that includes marketing, product development and financial benchmarks

Students are responsible for their own airfare or other travel costs to and from each conference location.

The PROPEL Young Entrepreneur and Business Program is for ambitious and entrepreneurially-minded students who are seeking a challenge and competitive advantage. To attend the summer 2012 program in Washington, DC, you must be either:

  • High School Student in Fall
  • High School Graduate in May/June
